Bitfinex Launches Segwit2x ‘Chain Split Tokens’

It's that time of the year again when we have to deal with potential forks. How exciting.

According to Bitcoin News, Bitfinex released its chain splitting terms and conditions concerning the upcoming November Segwit2x hard fork. The trading platform is also launching ‘Chain Split Tokens’ that will provide traders with the option to place bets on the “potential activation and mining of the Segwit2x protocol.

Russia’s Central Bank Instructs Clearinghouse To Take It Slow

And when I say take it slow, I mean it instructed the clearinghouse to not to settle cryptocurrency contracts.

Apparently the Central Bank of Russia has sent a letter to one of the country’s biggest clearinghouses, instructing them to refuse to clear and settle over-the-counter (OTC) contracts based on cryptocurrencies. The clearinghouse has been named as a partner to multiple initial coin offering (ICO) projects.

Can someone explain to me why Russian is so bipolar on cryptocurrency? One day they're adopting it with open arms, and the next indicating they're planning an outright ban.

Japan’s Finance Industry Embraces Bitcoin Mining

According to Bitcoin News, Japan’s major players in the financial industry are eyeing bitcoin mining with a goal of generating new revenue. They also hope to help set the ground rules for using bitcoin. In early September Japan’s GMO and DMM.com said they were moving into the mining space. Both companies have started crypto and bitcoin exchanges.
