Nexon Acquires Korbit
Remember Maple Story? War Rock? Combat Arms? Well, Korean game developer Nexon just acquired Korean exchange Korbit.
Gaming and cryptocurrency have always gone hand in hand. Nexon is already makes a killing from selling virtual currencies, in-game virtual items and related transactions (Nexon brought in $1.6 billion in revenue in 2016. Obviously not all of that is from selling mana potions and shiny swords, but you get the idea).
According to Nexon sources, their goal is to diversify their business and they have no plans to issue their own currency on Korbit.
It will be very interesting to see how this plays out over the next year.
